Trim for Spring

17-Aug-2012

Best done just before Spring, Trimming is one of the most productive tree maintenance jobs you can do in the garden. Mature and native trees grow quite well naturally, but garden trees need more care for them to look good and remain healthy. Trimming needs to be done with an understanding of how each tree is affected by each cut. A bad job can result in damage that will eventually kill the tree.

Reasons for Pruning

  • To remove dead branches,
  • To remove crowded or rubbing limbs
  • To eliminate hazards.
  • To increase light and air penetration to the inside of the tree’s crown or to the landscape below
  • As a corrective or preventive measure
  • To clear overhanging limbs
